Infographic: Planned Obsolescence

This project for my Graphic Design II class required me to research and visualize data to illuminate an issue of my choice.

I decided to focus on planned obsolescence, the practice of creating products to be replaced, leading to e-waste and negative environmental impacts.
 

CONCEPT


Modern businesses constantly design and produce “upgrades” of their products instead of focusing on repairs or support. The product of this practice is e-waste, tons of it, and the furthering of a throw-away culture. 

My infographic poster describes this issue on a shattered screen of an obsolete computer with retro bitmap graphics.
