Head Hunters
This project involved photography, typography, and physical craft.
HEAD HUNTERS
The 1973 album Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock, is an instrumental album showcasing Hancock’s band, The Head Hunters. The album marked a transition for Hancock into jazz fusion, and was a critical and commercial success.
I am a huge fan of this album, for its experimentation and deep musical texture. Each of its four tracks is full of funky, grimy, acidic electricity. I wanted to capture these avant-garde elements in the visuals of my album cover.

PHOTOGRAPHY
I decided to photograph the heads of baby dolls. These heads added some surreal comedy to the album title, and allowed for controlled photography in a studio setting.
TYPOGRAPHY
Type was meant to be secondary to the images, and reflect the centered composition that the heads formed.
