CINCY FRINGE FESTIVAL REDESIGN

CURRENT BRAND



Cincy Fringe Festival is a theater festival in Cincinnati, OH. There are a number of Fringe festivals in cities across the world, in which small, independent stage productions are put on by local artists and artists that travel the “Fringe Circuit.”

Cincy Fringe’s mission is to provide opportunities for artists to present experimental productions, and celebrate performing arts of all kinds. A slogan they use in branding is “Kinda Weird, Like You!”

Cincy Fringe branding changes annually, usually revolving around the design of the Fringe Guide, which contains showtimes and ads from the festival’s sponsors.



IDENTITY



The brand’s existing logo provided many opportunities for improvement. With my logo, I hoped to improve on simplicity,  hierarchy, and scalability.

I also hoped to create brand elements that could be effectively used in other applications.

Logo Iterations



My final design focused on simplicity and order, while also breaking the mold in key ways. Letters vary between upper and lower cases. The connecting element is the “i,” which also creates the image of an exclamation point.
